Event Description : "किला ए मुबारक़ की झलकियाँ " A Heritage Walk at Red Fort
It is a landmark that keeps the Mughal stories alive in the conscience of this city. When Shahjahan shifted the power centre from Agra to Delhi, the empire was in it's zenith and he laid down the foundation of the seventh city with full glory. On Sunday we will explore the heart of it, beginning by a sumptuous breakfast in Chandni Chowk, explore the fort complex, with the storyteller taking us through the bylanes of a time that once saw a moonlit bazaar bustling with culture and tehzeeb and how it saw it's descent after the trial of Bahadur Shah Zafar in 1857 and the tribulations thereafter.
About the Red Fort:The fort was built during 1638-1648 by the Mughal emperor Shahjahan. Made from red sandstone, and thus was rechristened by the British, the fort complex is an assemblage of several buildings. It was constructed after Shahjahan decided to move the capital from nearby Agra to Delhi.
