Event Description : TALK : School of Arts and Aesthetics welcomes you to a talk by Dr. Leonhard Emmerling On “Kant for Free People”.

Dr. Leonhard Emmerling traces the shifting discourse on aesthetics around autonomy from Kant to Nietzsche and explores what Kant’s aesthetics has to offer to contemporary art.


Dr. Leonhard Emmerling is the Director Programmes South Asia at the Goethe-Institut, New Delhi. He received his doctorate from the University of Heidelberg for a thesis entitled 'Kunsttheorie Jean Dubuffets'. Since 2002 he has been working as an author and contemporary art exhibition curator in Berlin, Kaiserslautern, Krefeld and Ludwigsburg, Germany. His publications include TASCHEN’s Jean-Michel Basquiat and Jackson Pollock.
