Voice -Sanjeeta Bhattacharya Quintet
Sanjeeta Bhattacharya is a Delhi based vocalist who began her journey in music at the age of five, learning Hindustani Classical music from Smt. Sunanda Sharma, while simultaneously exploring sounds from the world over including jazz, RnB, bossa nova and even flamenco, during her time in college. She won numerous state and national level inter school western music competitions as a solo performer. Sanjeeta studied Vocal Performance and recently graduated from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Boston.
Guitar - Takar Nabam
Takar Nabam is a Delhi based guitarist, singer-songwriter, composer. Born on February 20, 1991, in Doimukh, Arunachal Pradesh, India. At the age of 11, after having shifted his base to New Delhi to pursue his schooling, Takar was gifted his first love, his first guitar, on the condition that he could not let his academics take a back seat. So began his love story of fretting around for hours and hours, something he religiously follows to this day.After having dominated the Delhi inter-School and inter-college scene, Takar wanter to take his music to a more professional dimension.
In 2012-2013, he had attended two semesters at Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music, where he received a diploma in Music Performance. Also during this time he had opened up to singing, composing and writing lyrics.
Takar released his debut album, Same Sky, in February, 2016.
Piano - Rythem Bansal
Rythem Bansal is a professional Pianist and music Educator based in New Delhi. He has been studying his instrument for six years, and earned his Trinity Guildhall Grade 8 Certification in his third year. Following that, he has studied several diverse forms of music, such as jazz, funk, pop, and latin. During this time, he was an active part of his school's music society, winning them numerous competitions. He is a former student of legendary Delhi pianist John Raphael and international virtuoso Utsav Lal, and has studied extensively under Canadian jazz pianist Jacob Damelin.
He finds himself drawn to jazz music due to its emphasis on improvisation, which he believes allows musicians to be more creative and expressive. It's his belief that playing jazz is important to musicians of any genre, as it opens up their aural abilities and encourages them to develop musical maturity.
Currently, Rythem is an active musician and bandleader in the city of Delhi.
Drums - Vatan Singh Rajan
Vatan Singh Rajan is a jazz drummer and bandleader based in New Delhi, India. He discovered his affinity for music at the age of six and has pursued it ever since, studying under seasoned local musicians such as Tarun Balani and Kartikeya Srivastava, and international faculty from the USA and Canada, becoming the first-ever 2-year graduate of the Global Music Institute in 2015. He has also travelled to New York to study under jazz legends such as Ari Hoenig and Mike Clark.
He has played with several renowned musicians in Delhi, such as Utsav Lal, Abhinav Khokhar, Pranai Gurung, and international artists such as Loic Stephane Sanlaville and Stephen McEntee, amassing almost five years of professional playing experience.
He seeks to expand the roles of drummers as improvisers and artists, as influenced by drummers like Ari Hoenig and Elvin Jones, and to use music as a language.
Bass - Shashank Das
Shashank Das is a Delhi/Mumbai based electric and upright bass player who studied under some of the finest musicians in India. Some of his recent collaborations include the Delhi youth orchestra , jazz fusion quintet Sylvia and an experimental ensemble called Callisto. He has also been working on his electro funk project due later this year. He is passionate about jazz and world music and wants to pursue composition.
