An eclectic mix of percussive, electro-acoustic, and hard rock with jumpy riffs, best defined as a labour of love, representing BEGUM supported by Amartya Ghosh. They are all set to launch their new album ‘We are excited’ at Hauz Khas Social, on 16th October, Sunday. BEGUM is best known as the experimental rock band of the city.
BEGUM is a Dreamy, lo-fi experimental perverter band from New Delhi, India specialising in 11th-century seduction sounds. Their songs are written in short bursts of clairvoyance and haberdashery.
The band members: Tushar Mohan-plays bass/sample man for Begum and Nigambodh, Karan Singh - drums and keys, other than playing for Begum he also plays drums/harmonium for Peter Cat Recording Company and Lycanthropia. Kartik S Pillai-guitars and vocals, other than playing for Begum he also plays guitars/keys for Peter Cat Recording Company.
Amartya Ghosh is a singer- songwriter from Jamshedpur, based in New- Delhi. His sound ranges from mellow acoustic ballads to neo-grunge. Each one of his songs is reflections of what he sees around him. Caught between a musician, a poet, and a storyteller, Amartya delivers his rants and musings wrapped in intricate guitar melodies, giving the indie-scene a homegrown sonic indulgence. Amartya began his solo career early in 2015. After a year of doing the rounds in the local indie scene in Delhi, he released his debut EP titled - Broken Compass in June 2016. After recording his EP 'Broken Compass' Amartya joined forces with Ishaan Gandhi (Drums, Keyboards) Subhadra Kamath (Bass, Vocals, Keys) and Utkarsh Varma (guitars) to create major sonic goodness! The band currently performs songs from the EP as well as new material, tailor-made to surprise audiences.
