Event Description : EXHIBITION "Luminous" a unique show celebrating Manisha Bhattacharya and Porcelain 

Luminous, an exhibition of contemporary ceramics, celebrates artist Manisha Bhattacharya and the medium of porcelain that she so loved. 

In September 2015, the world of art lost a beautiful soul to a harsh and brutal disease. Manisha’s life and spirit were defined by a radiance that drew its strength from honesty, creativity and goodness. As an artist, her work exuded a peaceful, centered presence. She was a renowned expert in the medium of Raku, before turning to porcelain, making work that was delicate and vulnerable.

Porcelain is a paradoxical material that is strong, yet carries with it an air of fragility. It is of this earth, yet can be transformed to attain a precious luminosity. These same qualities can apply to human life as well – our lives may be temporal, yet they can be lived with a joy that can light up everything around us. 

This show, conceptualized in memory of a loved friend by curators Anjani Khanna and Vineet Kacker, is possibly the first exhibition of its kind in the country, exploring one of the least explored of the ceramic art genres in India.Through her continual presence, Manisha brings together some of her closest friends and colleagues from the ceramic art fraternity, in a show that both remembers and celebrates her life and her love for this medium.
