Aldo, a mediocre detainee is to be escorted to a court in Milan. The task is given to the police officer Giacomo. He leaves his service revolver in the glove box so that Aldo takes it and takes over. On the street, Giovanni, a toy maker whose car has just been stolen, asks the police car for help. He is given a lift and finds himself taken hostage. The three begin an aimless escape, along the way helping a woman in giving birth, surviving the miraculous explosion of their car in which they are believed dead. They spend the night in a cemetery, meet Clara, a beautiful and mysterious girl, with whom Aldo falls in love. Back in Milan, they see each other off, but Aldo does not know where to go, Giacomo is left locked out of his house and Giovanni finds his wife in bed with Catania. With the help of Clara they take revenge, feel contented, but the ultimate surprise is revealed by Clara…
