Event Description : "Nerves" A Contemporary Dance Performance by Surjit Nongmeikpam  as part of The Park’s New Festival.

‘Nerves’ is a piece of physical and experimental expressions of young boys from Manipur. Most of the lives of the people in Manipur are exhausted by unanswered questions.  The dance piece is based on the conflict that Manipuri people encounter on a daily basis. ‘Nerves’ won the Prakriti Excellence in Contemporary Dance Awards – Edition II in 2015. The work-in-progress was showcased in Dance Umbrella, UK, and the team did residencies & showcase in Barcelona and Portugal.

Background :  The Park’s New Festival, India’s only National Contemporary Arts Festival, that has brought together - enchanting music, lyrical dance, dramatic visual art and enthralling theatrical performances is celebrating its decadal year from 02nd Sept to 22nd Sept, 2016 across six cities.
The Park Hotels and Prakriti Foundation conceptualized and curated The Park’s New Festival in 2007. The festival aims to deepen the relationship with emerging art scenario in the country. To be held across 6 cities over a period of almost a month, the festival brings together acclaimed artists from all over the world, putting together excellent pieces of engaging acts and look forward to entertain the discerning audience.
The ten editions of the cultural rendezvous have laid about 50 performances from local as well as acclaimed international artists for more than 1,00,000 culturati.
