Event Description : ART TALK "Designing Exhibitions for Museums" by exhibition designer Martin Sollberger and graphic designer Mirijam Ziegler, followed by an interaction.

Alice Boner was a Sculptor and Painter from Switzerland who settled in Varanasi, India in 1936 and went on to become one of the most outstanding scholars on Indian sculpture, dance and temple architecture. The journey of her life, art, and travels spanning over eight decades has been conceptualized and designed as an exhibition titled, 'Alice from Switzerland – A Visionary Artist and Scholar Across Two Continents', by the Museum Rietberg, Zurich, and opens at the National Museum, Delhi on the 1st of September 2016. 

KHOJ International Artists Association is pleased to host the Designer of the Exhibition Martin Sollberger and Mirijam Ziegler to share their work and discuss Exhibition Design for museums.

Some questions they will address are -- How is designing exhibitions for museums different from galleries? What is the need for exhibition design as a field of specialty in the museum context?  What is the role of graphic design in three dimensional spaces? What are the approaches taken towards contemporary exhibition design in museums today?

They will also discuss the challenges of working as exhibition and graphic designers in Switzerland.

Martin Sollberger is an Exhibition Designer based in Zurich, Switzerland. Prior to his work at the Museum Rietberg in Zurich, Sollberger has worked on several design projects with Afra & Tobia Scarpa, Trix & Robert Haussmann, Dolf Schnebli and Hannes Wettstein.

Mirijam Ziegler is a Zurich based independent Graphic Designer. Along with her work exhibition design, signage and book design at the Museum Rietberg, Ziegler independently creates work that focuses on typography and cultural identities.
