Event Description : Studio 55, Art Gallery present "Slice of Heaven" a solo art show by Priyadarshi Gautam.

Concept of the show is to show the indispensable relation between Nature and Humans. Nature provides not only the essentials but also playful arena for spiritual development of Humans. Nature gives us peace and calmness which cannot be found anywhere else. In the lap of Nature humans have gained enlightenment and eternal peace. Mankind has progressed through the ages only because of what all Nature has offered so it becomes duty of Humans to repay by showing care and respect for Nature and it is for their own good because once Nature’s offerings are gone there is no replacement. Humans should remember Nature can exist without them but they cannot exist without Nature. It is high time mankind takes measures to prevent the abuse of Nature and inculcate in humans the importance of Nature and the need to save it from destruction before it is too late.

About thirty paintings will be on display in the exhibition, all are oil on canvas.

About the Artist: Priyadarshi Gautam was born in Delhi in 1970. He is a self taught artist inspired by beauty of Mother Nature and deep love for The Himalayas.

Being a sensitive artist and nature lover at heart Priyadarshi could not take interest in advocacy and soon the smothering and suffocating atmosphere of the courts started taking its toll on him. In this frustrating environment his sensitive heart started appreciating and studying the Beauty of Nature more and more. Half heartedly he pushed through few years of Law practice, he wanted to run away from this chaos, find a secluded place amidst Nature and paint.

Priyadarshi Gautam’s works show considerable maturity, artistically as well as technically. He is individualistic in his style. He mainly paints in oils in impressionistic style. He loves using cool
colours, his palette consists of shades of blue and green and neutral colours white, black and grey
He often uses a tache of warm colour and places complimentary colours together which makes the painting vibrant. Priyadarshi loves to apply paint in thick raised strokes giving three dimensional effect to his works. He creates atmosphere and illusion of depth in his works by excellent handling of perspective and light and shade. Priyadarshi’s technique enables him to paint at speed, he loves painting wet in wet and many of his paintings are done alla prima.
He applies paint to the canvas in broken way giving a great impression. Priyadarshi prepares the stretched canvas for painting himself, buying wood locally, fixing the stretcher, nailing the canvas on it and then applying gesso. He says that it gives him satisfaction of creation. Priyadarshi holds the view that an artist must set aside all his fears and be experimentative on the canvas, just tamely drawing forms and filling them with colours cannot create great works of art.
