Event Description : Kiran Nadar Museum of Art invites you to the first session of our new series of talks and conversations "Invitation for a Coup" KNMA Talk Series.

A coup is many things: recklessness, relay, an upset, a spider, a nest, an imperfect construction, a halt, a projectile, a maneuver or a  stroke. ‘Invitation for a Coup’ proposes a space or a bricolage as created by an interaction and catalyzed by the artist’s speech. It will be one of many exercises in ‘public scrutiny’, a form that has gained prominence recently. The series is informed by Ravish Kumar’s provocative performance on his Prime Time show ‘that we can hear what we say’. Converting the television screen into a radio, implicating himself and his peers, he conducted a thorough inquiry into his profession and aspects of public debate, while advocating for doubt as a method. Each of the nine participating artists will lead us into a discussion with anchors drawn from their art practice.  - Akansha Rastogi 
Sreshta Rit Premnath (born 1979, Bangalore, India) works across multiple media, investigating systems of representation and reflects on the process by which images become icons and events become history. He is the founder and co-editor of the publication Shifter. Premnath completed his BFA at The Cleveland Institute of Art, his MFA at Bard College, and has attended the Whitney Independent Study Program. He has received grants from Art Matters and the Civitella Ranieri Foundation. He is currently Assistant Professor at the Parsons, New York. He has exhibited widely. www.sreshtaritpremnath.com
