The Foundation for Indian Contemporary Art (FICA) and Polish Institute New Delhi invites you to a presentation titled 'How to make a legible exhibition about the issue of illegibility? Some notes about my personal way(s) of curating' by Marta Smolińska

In this public presentation Polish Curator Marta Smolińska will share her different curatorial projects – from her long time curatorial engagement with the artist Jan Berdyszak across different institutions to her more recent international exhibitions that engage with themes of illegibillity, touch and hapticity in the modern and contemporary Polish art. The presentation will be followed with a brief discussion with the audience.

Marta Smolińska (b. 1975, living in Toruń / Poland) is an art historian, art critic and curator. Her recent curatorial projects include Illegibility: the contexts of script (2016), (Don’t) touch! Haptic aspects of Polish modern and contemporary art at the Center for Contemporary Art in Toruń (2015) and By a hair at the Centrum Kultury Zamek in Poznań (2015), among others. She has also curated six solo exhibitions of renowned Polish artist Jan Berdyszak between 2006 and 2014.

She has worked as Assistant Professor of Modern and Contemporary Art at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and Professor at University of Art in Ponzan. She has published a large number of writings and books on contemporary art. Until 2010, she was deputy editor of the art magazine artluk, published by the Centre of Contemporary Art Znaki Czasu in Toruń. Marta Smolińska is a member of the International Association of Art Critics. She received scholarships from the Foundation of Polish Science and was also awarded DAAD Scholarship at Humboldt University, Berlin in 2012.
