Event Description : MUSIC : HCL Concerts presents "True To Our Roots" An evening of Hindustani Classical Music presenting a unique Uttar Dakshin Jugalbandi of the Veena & Sitar, featuring Vidwan B. Kannan on Veena, Ustad. Saeed Zafar Khan on Sitar & Vidwan Shankar Raman on Tabla.

Vidwan B. Kannan
B. Kannan is a classical musician and veena exponent from Chennai, India, in the Carnatic Music genre. He is also a vocalist and exponent of the instruments Mridangam, Suddha Madhalam and the Ganjira. He recently received the title Sangita Kala Bharati from Bharat Kalachar and has been performing for them for 25 years. He has performed solo concerts all across the world including at the Festival of India through ICCR, Government of India in Russia. Since 2009, he has been organizing the annual Veena Festival at Narada Gana Sabha in Chennai.

Ustad Saeed Zafar Khan
Ustad Saeed Zafar Khan belongs to the Delhi gharana that includes Ustad Chand Khan, Ustad Usman Khan, Ustad Hilal Ahmed Khan, Ustad Nasir Ahmed Khan, Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan, Ustad Bundu Khan, Zahoor Ahmed Khan and Ustad Zafar Ahmed Khan (his father). His style blends tantrakari (instrumental virtuosity) with flashes of Delhi gharana gayaki (vocalism). A top grade artist from A.I.R., he has regaled audiences in numerous concerts both at home and abroad.
