Event Description : TALK "Bruised Passports" by Savi & Vid

Savi and Vid are a writer / photographer duo who conceptualized Bruised Passports as a unique mélange of travel tales and fashion for the road. They live in London and have travelled to over 250 cities in 40 countries. They have driven with zebras in South Africa, been caving in Austria, cavorted with Bedouins in the Sahara, befriended soldiers in Israel, and partied in a nuclear bunker in the Czech Republic. Bruised Passports chronicles their adventures and inspires people to ditch the clichés while travelling to new places.

They love exploring a country in their own unique way – you’ll find them meandering down forgotten alleys, spending hours in crumbling buildings, or days trying to find the perfectly-baked croissant. They have a soft spot for offbeat and romantic travel, luxury accommodation, local experiences and culture, and fine dining

The duo also known as Bruised Passports will be sharing their travel experiences at Junglee Billee on 20th May 7 pm onwards. The event entails unlimited wine and specially curated tapas food by our own, Chef Pawan Bisht.

About Savi :
I am an academic with a PhD in visual arts and literature. Even my pedantic self believes that in a world saturated with visual media, what you wear is as much an expression of your personality as what you read, eat, or watch.
I despise conventionality as much as I love colour, mismatched socks, and messy hair. I cringe at labels but if I had to describe my style, it would be bohemian, with a quirky edge. I cherish eccentricity – be it in literature, films, or clothes.
I’ve always maintained I’m a bit of an urban gypsy- a confluence of my travels. I love amalgamating ethnic elements, experimental clashes of materials and colors, flea-market finds, and avant-garde trends into fun outfits. I blog about the outfits I wear when I’m travelling. Expect the ‘wears’ section of this blog to be a eclectic mushball of bright colours, kohl-rimmed eyes, unkempt hair, wander lust, and sun-hazed locations.

About Vid:
I remember Alex’s dialogue in A Clockwork Orange (one of my favorite films): “Oh bliss! Bliss and heaven! Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh. It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now. As I slooshied, I knew such lovely pictures!”

That’s how ecstatic I feel while travelling. It might be clichéd but I’m most alive when playing vagabond, with Savi for company. The thrill of finding that hidden alley, sleepy tapas bar, secluded beach, or ruins which cannot be found in any travel guide is second to none. I love documenting these treasures with my Nikon D 610, Nikkor 50mm f1.8g, and Nikkor 28-300mm f3.5 – 5.6 VR lenses (all three from John Lewis). If you are new to Bruised Passports, I’d recommend having a look at our Travel & Fashion photographs. I’m a coffee geek and a keen purveyor of Third Wave coffee- expect the occasional rambly post about types of coffee and best cafés in Timbucktoo and the rest of the world.
