Event Description : MUSIC under the stars with Ananddev Banerjee & Nawa Langilotti

The Hungry Monkey and Art Collide present the hottest new music project in town - Nawa and Ananddev. 

The Delhi-based duo is made up of Indian guitarist Ananddev Banerjee and American singer-songwriter / cellist Nawa Lanzilotti. The duo’s sound grows from their shared interest in a diverse range of music including American folk, Blues, progressive rock, and Hindustani classical. Together, Ananddev and Nawa perform a combination of originals and traditional songs from the heritage of American Roots and Folk-Rock.

Nawa Lanzilotti is an American multi-style cellist, composer, and singer-songwriter based in Delhi. While at university in Rochester, NY, Nawa began exploring American cello fiddle in the Old-Time folk music scene and formed the trio End of Days String Band. In 2013, Nawa moved to Delhi to study Hindustani classical music on Indian cello with Saskia Rao de Haas through a fellowship with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and currently continues her studies independently. She is the founder of PULSE, a music and dance collective dedicated to collaborative productions uniting music and movement in multicultural context. Through PULSE's Northeast Education Initiative workshop tour in Feb 2016, Nawa met artists in Nagaland and Manipur with whom she is now collaborating on various projects exploring Northeast women's stories and bridging Manipuri and Hawaiian folk traditions. She performs and records with a variety of international artists including Hawaiian slack-key guitarist Danny Carvalho, contemporary Persian group World Ethnic Music Ensemble, and Indian rock band Tritha Electric. She is from Honolulu, Hawaii.


Ananddev Banerjee is a Delhi-based guitarist, songwriter, and sound engineer whose musical interests range from brutal death metal to acoustic folk. As the former guitarist for psychedelic-rock band Moonshine, Ananddev competed in the 2012 Hornbill Rock Festival in Kohima, Nagaland. Ananddev has also performed with rock groups Just In Time and his own Audiogram – a psychedelic rock trio of guitar, didgeridoo, and drums representing the countries of India, Belarus, and Colombia. As a member of PULSE he regularly contributes his sensitive improvisational work to dance-music workshops and productions. Ananddev currently on-site artist liaison and sound/stage manager for Delhi's premier live-music venue The Piano Man Jazz Club where he jams with the best acts coming through India. He also regularly performs American- and British- contemporary folk covers in the venue. Ananddev is an adventure addict at heart, drawing inspiration from fearless surfers and the ocean, which he enjoys channelling into the music of KaiMana.
