6:00pm: All Idiots- Based on Pt Bhushan 'Bure Phase' & Directed by SP Singh Sengar
An excellent ‘situation based comedy’ revolves around a police officer who is affectionately called ACP Saheb. Police officer ACP Saheb is surrounded by a bunch of stupid officers and a handicapped (blind) constable in his office, and an illiterate, short-tempered and dominating wife at home. To make matters worse, his only son is a Smuggler and a Gangster. His mission turn into a love story between one of his officers and a smuggler. Many other funny situations take place in his police station and home. What he does to clear the mess in the police station and his life forms the crux of the play "All Idiots"
7:30pm: Ghalib in New Delhi- Written & Directed by Dr. M Sayeed Alam
This rip-roaring comedy has the great erstwhile Urdu poet, Mirza Ghalib, revisiting his beloved ‘Dehli’, now ironically ‘Delhi’, in 2016 to witness and relish his posthumous fame. The entire plot revolves around Ghalib striving against an omnipotent identity crisis, beginning with the occupants of his ‘Haveli’ mistaking him as Ghalib’s ‘Jinn’.This forces him to stay with a ‘Bihari’ boy, ‘Jai Hind’ a Delhi University student, in a servant quarter. His confidence is further shattered when Jai Hind and his landlady Mrs. Chaddha recognize his worth only through the voice of Jagjit Singh, and the screen portrayal of Naseeruddin Shah. Persuaded by the duo and in desperate need of recognition, Ghalib decides to ‘sell’ himself. The consequent press conference turns out to be a damp squib with the journalists being more interested in post-conference snacks and juicy headlines. Ghalib then opts for an advertising agency to perpetuate his presence in the minds of the people. What will be the fate of Ghalib? Does his rebirth spell further disaster? Is Delhi a mere travesty of his hopes and aspirations? The answer lies in watching Ghalib in New Delhi, a laugh riot posing some serious questions about the stagnating codes.

They find an old Hindu woman still living in that Haveli. She refuses to be robbed of her home . This Hindu woman has lost her son and family in the riots that followed the partition of nation in 1947The play is set in the city of Lahore and around the time of the partition. Many lives were lost and many families were separated overnight and despite the passage of more than sixty two years, those wounds are still fresh. The play deals with this delicate subject very sensitively. The play focuses on a Muslim family, the Mirzas from Lucknow, who flee to Lahore after the partition takes place. They were allotted a Haveli erstwhile owned by a famous Hindu Jeweler’s family, who was probably killed in the carnage. However, their matriarch "Mai' (old Hindu lady) still survives, and continues living in the Haveli, unnoticed by the looting goons, when the Mirzas arrive. A clash over the ownership of the Haveli ensues, and gradually the entire neighborhood gets involved. In the end, "Mai' wins over the Mirza family and other neighbor’s affection. They all with the help of their Poet neighbor and the local Priest (who preaches a tolerant Islam), rally around her and protect her from the local goons. There are many serious questions raised by this play. The biggest being, was all the bloodshed and trauma of the partition necessary or even justified? The audience gets haunted by this thought.
17th April at Shri Ram Centre :
4:00pm: Maharathi- Written by Vibhanshu Vaibhav & Directed by Krishna Kanth
MAHARATHI is a superbly crafted play written by Vibhanshu Vaibhav and inspired by the excerpts of the Mythological Epic ‘MAHABHARAT’. Based on the life of KARNA, the play explores the identity crisis faced by the protagonist when he is abandoned at birth, and brought up by Adhiratha a low caste person, Due to this fact, Karna is spurned by Draupadi at her ‘Swayamvara’, and is forced to take sides with the Kauravas against his own brothers, the Pandavas. The playwright throws up the issues of the Blind Commitments and True Logic. Krishna is portrayed for the first time as a political figure. Karna’s principled loyalty to the Kauravas and his deep anguish at his rejection by the Society is very well crafted in the meeting between the Mother and Son.
6:00pm: Jai Hind (Azadi from Indian Pakistani League)- Written & Directed by SP Singh Sengar
This play revolves around the dirty tactics of ‘Infiltration and Terrorism’ followed by Pakistan. This play shows as to how Pakistan uses sensitive sections of our society like innocent students, poor farmers, illiterate and fanatic people to create internal disturbances. The sole objective is to weaken a tolerant and big hearted India. One of the most interesting parts of the play is the the dialogue between Indian and Pakistani Military Officers at the border. The fact that this sensitive subject has been handled very tactfully and in a comic way shows the talent of the writer-director. Jai Hind is an excellent combination of Dirty Diplomacy and Politics on one hand and Broad Minded Patriotism on the other hand. The comic presentation makes it wonderful.
7:30pm: Taj Mahal Ka Tender- Written by Ajay Shukla & Directed by SP Singh Sengar

Tenders are issued. Contractors are hired but, does the project actually sees the light of the day or if the Mogul Emperor, fast forwarded in present times, becomes a victim of the system himself? How his beloved Mumtaz reacts to all this? Whatever may happen to the wonder tomb, but the lofty laughter castles are guaranteed, as the curtain rises on Taj Mahal ka Tender.
