Event Description : MUSIC WORKSHOP : Soul Centric presents Dhrupad Immersion Weekend With Padma Shree, Ustad F. Wasifuddin Dagar
Immersing oneself in Dhrupad, yoga of sound
Singing is the most ancient and natural way of giving a voice to one’s soul and happiness. It releases inner tensions and establishes a harmonising link with sound frequencies in the Universe. Harnessing the effect of internal vibrations it is a powerful medium to energise and channel the body-soul connect and lead to a sense of well being, sometimes up to loosing sense of time and space.
Ustad F. Wasifuddin Dagar has led workshops in schools and colleges, in music schools, for professional musicians and for meditation adepts in India and in many countries in Europe, in America and also Japan. He believes in tuning his teaching to the response of the participants because in two days he can only give the taste of the music and participants can only discover their own receptivity and the pleasure of entering the world of sound.
About Ustad F. Wasifuddin Dagar
Son and nephew of the world renowned Dagar Brothers he represents the 20th generation of dhrupad singers in the family. He has been taught from tender age according to the tradition followed in his family, the “guru-shishya parampara” which is the oral transmission from guru to disciple. He continues to teach his students in the same way one-on-one.
Dhrupad is deeply rooted in the ancient Vedic chanting of OM and evolved over time into a highly classical form of devotional music. Until today its ultimate aim is to conjure up an atmosphere opening a space for individual meditation and a path to higher consciousness, as music is the fastest way to experience the divine presence and fusion in the whole.
