Event Description : Sarvam Foundation (NGO) presents "Echoes of Empty Vessels" an evening of music & dance to raise awareness about Water Scarcity
It is said that in the years to come, wars would be fought over water. The recent imposition of Section 144 in Latur fearing water riots and a possible change in match venue of the IPL cricket tournament from Mumbai to some other location, are glaring examples of the conflict manifesting itself.
But how do artists express their concern over this unfortunate reality? It is, of course, through what they know best, their own art forms.
Several artists - Indian and international - have come together to draw public attention towards water conservation...and to make an appeal to people who have ready access to water for an attitudinal change.
And what could better represent the empty vessels in millions of Indian households than playing the empty vessel itself. Ghatam, an empty earthen pot is a classical Indian musical instrument. Echoes of Empty Vessels, a concert which features star performance from celebrated Ghatam & Violin player Elathur N Hari Narayanan is an attempt not just to revive this dying Indian performing art form but to make people aware of the modern day problem, the acute water scarcity.
Performing Artists (International)
Fakhroddin Ghaffari from Iran - Tombak, Darbuka and Daf percussionist
Nawa Lanzilotti from USA - Cello
Lise Moulet from France - Fusion of Kathak with Persian and Arabic dance forms
Leah Raphael Curtis from USA - Fusion of classical Indian and international dance forms
