Event Description : EXHIBITION "Earthen Pot - Image Poems 2016" drawings by renowned artist A Ramachandran

Vadehra Art Gallery was established in 1987 in New Delhi at a time when modern Indian art was still considered exotic and its access limited to a privileged few. The gallery was born out of a vision to build an institution dedicated to Indian art, and the need for a professional platform to connect artists with collectors and connoisseurs. 

About Mr. A Ramachandran : The works were made in North America, on one of the artist’s visits to the country. His research and keen study of the Barahmasa andRagamala paintings as well as the mural painting traditions has informed Ramachandran’s works in subtle and yet telling ways. TheRagamala and Barahmasa paintings, known to represent the ragas in Indian Classical Music through the different times of the day and the evocation of different moods during the changing seasons in twelve months of the year - Ramachandran seeks to experiment with the visual dictionaries that these medieval era paintings have created.
