Event Description : EXHIBITION "Colonial to Corporates" Interactive Photo Installation on an Adivasi mother's journey through the Assam tea fields

From Colonial to Corporates brings to light the enduring struggle of tea plantation workers forcibly brought by the British to work in Assam's tea fields from the tribal tracts. Tea labourers began a journey marked by low wages and high maternal mortality. 

Through the use of photography, video and interactive technology, including 360 virtual tours, the installation is an accumulation of yesterday and today. It endeavours to create space for understanding, reflection and action in the need for dignified conditions for workers.

Schedule:
6 May 2016 - Opening Night with remarks from Leading Activists
7 May 2016 - Exhibition on display; Discussion at 2PM with Tea garden workers and Activists from Assam 

About the Organization:

The installation is hosted by Nazdeek, a legal empowerment organization committed to bringing access to justice closer to marginalized communities in India. Nazdeek along with its grassroots partners such as Pajhra & All Adivasi Students' Association Of Assam are using the law to demand justice for Assam's nearly 1 million tea workers.
