Event Description : FICA presents "Disappearing Dialogues" Project presentation and call for collaboration by Nobina Gupta

Disappearing Dialogues is a series of interactions with nature, people and objects that are knocking on the doors of extinction. Initiated by Kolkata-based artist Nobina Gupta, this project has been engaging with different communities, schools and educational institutions through interactive artworks, workshops, presentations, talks, and collective activities to reflect on cultural, social and ecological losses, residues and memories native to their city/region. Using this project to create platforms for collective encounters, Nobina Gupta hopes to engage in a longer dialogue about contemporary life, development and sustainability.

In this presentation the artist will share the journey of the project over the past three years. This presentation is also an open call to Delhi-based artists and other practitioners who engage with similar concerns and would like to collaborate with Nobina Gupta. Interested practitioners are welcome to connect with Nobina through email nobingupta@gmail.com and share views with her post the session.

Nobina Gupta is an alumnus of Kala Bhavan, Santineketan. She has held solo shows in India at Gallery Sanskriti (2015 & 2011), in Switzerland at Jan Kossen Contemporary Gallery (2014) and Galerie Kashya Hildebrand (2011), along with group shows in London, Sweden, Indonesia and India. She has participated in national and international art fairs such as India Art Fair (2014 & 2011), Art Fair Cologne, Germany (2013), Art Stages, Singapore (2012), Art Asia Miami (2011), Art Dubai (2011). She has participated in ‘Earth Art Project’, in Ladakh 2014 cosponsored by Japan Foundation, ‘Encounters 2015- Spaces in Transition’, a Public Art Festival at CST in Mumbai by Art O2, at ‘International Kolkata Book Fair 2016’ and at ‘MAI’- Maihar Art Ichol Festival 2016 , and as part of her ongoing public art project ‘DISAPPEARING DIALOGUES’ she has successfully created platforms for multidisciplinary public interactions that is a large part of her artistic practice.  


This is an Open Forum event in collaboration with Nobina Gupta. The Open Forum is a site for independent artists and organizations to collaborate with FICA on specific events in Delhi. Through the sharing of resources, knowledge, and networks, the forum will exist as a temporary collaborative space that will allow for a deeper engagement with practice and pedagogy.
