Event Description : Prastav Theatre Group Presents "Kuch Aap Beeti, Kuch Jag Beeti" Hindi play, is a tribute to Ismat Chugtai's 100th anniversary 

The play is based on Ismat Chugtai’s short stories and her memories. She was a writer, feminist, educationalist. ismat chugtai was a known writer in those days of fourties of last century and that to in the days when the women education (that too a muslim) was unheard.she had to fight a law suit In 40s, for her short story ‘lihaaf’ brought against her by a muslim gentleman in Lahore civil court. very comic description is given where prosecutor had no answer to her and Manto’s arguments and the suit was withdrawn. She belonged to an orthodox Muslim family. They were ten children. The father was Magistrate in the Princely State of Jodhpur and other places. They were brought up in the traditional Muslim ways. The play vividly brings out her tenacious (threatening to run away or commit suicide) struggle to get education up to BA level. She expired in 1991. She had a unique style and she knew how to draw her character very well.
