Event Description : Ashvin Gidwani Production (AGP) World presents ‘Barff’ Hindi Thriller play

India’s foremost theatre production house, AGP World, brings to you the premier of the spine-chilling thriller "Barff”, directed by the highly acclaimed actor, director and screenwriter, Saurabh Shukla. Barff will be staged from 11th to 13th March 2016, at Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi and promises to keep you on the edge of your seat all through the evening. 

Talking about the play, Director Saurabh Shukla, says, “As a young man, when I decided to opt for art as a profession, a large section of society warned me that I am making a mistake. They tried making me realize that the truth of life is different than what I imagine it to be. Once I joined Art, the same process continued as many believed that I am clueless about the truth of art. But it is one’s belief that forms one’s truth. And we live a whole life believing a truth, which does not exist for others. This is my journey, to see the truth of another side.” Ashvin Gidwani, Producer and M.D., AGP World adds, “We are excited to stage the premier of Barff, in New Delhi. The city has been very receptive to all our works and this play is very different from the genres that we have previously brought to the city. Producing Barff  has truly been a special experience for us and I am sure it will be well appreciated by the discerning audiences in Delhi.”

Set in picturesque Kashmir during winter, BARFF is an original spine chilling thriller which spans over one night. Desperate parents of an ailing child and an unsuspecting doctor are the three lives caught in the whirlwind of conflicting questions of truth, reality and belief. BARFF raises many questions - Is truth what we all experience collectively or we all have our own different truths? Does truth lead to belief or it’s the belief which constructs the truth? Does truth actually exist or it’s just a manifestation of one’s own belief? This gripping thriller, written and directed by Saurabh Shukla, questions existentialism and takes the protagonists on a journey which makes them see the Truth within and of the other side. The cast of the play includes established film and television stars that include Bollywood actor Vinay Pathak who essays the role of the Doctor, Sadiya Siddiqui reputed television & theatre actor who plays the role of the mother and television actor Sunil Palwal as the father of the child.

Saurabh Shukla's biggest break came in 1998 when he co-wrote the screenplay for Ram Gopal Varma’s cult classic Satya which also got him the Star Screen Award for Best Screenplay. Since then he has never looked back and written highly acclaimed screenplays for both theater and Bollywood movies. This versatile actor, director and screenwriter has also essayed roles in 75 feature films which include blockbusters such as Satya, Slumdog Millionaire, Bandit Queen, Lage Raho Munnabhai and more recently Johnny LLB and PK.
