Event Description : "Yamuna : A River or a Drain?" join for a Shramdaan - an act to clean.
On January 17th, 2016, Delhi’s citizens will come together to celebrate the power and potential of volunteerism by pledging their support to the lifeline of millions of Indians, the Yamuna. Ironically, the river has been reduced to a drain and is demanding immediate action from the state and civil society. Through Yamuna Shramdaan 2016, more than 500 citizens will engage in creative voluntary action for the cause of the river through a huge shramdaan (manual clean-up) followed by a plantation on the river banks. Several volunteer involving organizations, schools and corporates of Delhi will converge on the banks of the river to make change happen.
