Event Description : On the eve of Human Rights Day, Embassy of the Netherlands in collaboration with Gender Studies Group, Delhi University invites you to a Movie screening of ‘Stories of our Lives’ and Panel discussion on LGBT Rights.
The event aims to shed light on the overlooked aspects of problems the LGBT community faces in everyday facets of life.
Introduction: Ms. Dominique Kuhling( Netherlands Deputy Ambassador)
The Panel consists of:
Ms. Anjali Gopalan (Founder and Executive Director, NAZ Foundation), who will talk about the social aspects of the difficulties faced by the community.
Adv. Aditya Bondyopadhyay (Human Rights Lawyer/LGBT Rights Activist), who will discuss the laws, the decriminalization movement and the views of the judiciary and legislature.
Ms. Shreya Gupta (Co-coordinator, Gender Studies Group), who will discuss the relevance of the issue from the point of view of a student of the university.
Dr. Bijayalaxmi Nanda (Political Sc. Dept., Miranda House), will be the moderator of the discussion.
The discussion will be preceded by a 60 minutes movie screening. The movie, "Stories of our Lives" by Jim Chuchu (Kenya) is a black and white film showing 5 short stories covering various aspects of the difficulties faced by the LGBT Community across the world. The film won the Teddy Jury Award at the Berlinale - Berlin International Film Festival.
Snacks will only be served at the beginning
