Event Description : ‘Terra Incognita’ solo art show by Pietro Ruffo. 

Terra Incognita was a term used by early cartographers and navigators who marked the unchartered territories as Incognita or unknown, and was an important conceptual device in cartography as a method. Terra Incognita functions like the gestalt principles of "broken continuity clues", "coincidental disruptive patterns" and "closure", or broken lines implying a continuous line. At the same time, terra incognita also reflects the enthusiasm to gather knowledge about unknown lands, cultures and people. (John Xavier) 

ABOUT PIETRO RUFFO
Born in Rome, Italy in 1978, Ruffo continues to live and work in Italy’s capital city. He studied Architecture at the University of Rome until 2005, before being selected for a research fellowship at The Italian Academy for advanced studies in America, Columbia University, New York, in 2010. Ruffo’s practice reflects his intense social and moral concerns, as well as his stance on specific ethical issues. Working with media including drawing, watercolor and sculpture, he creates intricate and meticulously-detailed objects which demand an intense manual working process. his work has been exhibited in several museums and foundations around the world: Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, Rome (2014); Russian Museum of Decorative Applied and Folk Art, part of the special projects of the fourth biennale of Moscow (2011); Museo dell’Arte Contemporanea Ravenna (2009); Museo archeologico Rossi, Ventimiglia (2008) .
