Budding dance talent Agrini will perform her Arangetram upon the blessings of her Guru Smt Usha Rao, a renowned Bharatanatyam dancer and trainer.
About the Performer: Agrini Bhattacharya has had the privilege to have trained in Bharatnatyam under Guru Gmt Usha Rao. She has a senior Diploma in Bharatnatyam from Prayag Samithi in Allahabad. Presently, she is a Class XI student at DAV School, Vikaspuri.
About the Guru: Born in a family that values art, culture and education, Mrs Rao began her journey of mastering Bharatnatyam at the age of 7 under the tutelage of Pandanallur doyen Chinnayya Pillai. Later she was groomed under the guidance of Shanmugha Sundaram Pillai, Kutraalam Ganeshan Pillai, Mylapore Gouri Ammal and Malathi Srinivasan at Kalakshetra. In 1983, she started her dance school, Nrithya Abhinaya, which currently has over 150 disciples spread over 5 different locations in West Delhi. In recognition of her contribution to the field of fine arts, Guru Smt Usha Rao was conferred with the National Award for Excellence in Bharatnatyam in 2006 and 2014.
