Event Description : “Southern District (Zona Sur)” Spanish film screening with English subtitles as part of Bolivian Film Series.
Synopsis: Southern district is a film directed by the Bolivian filmmaker Juan Carlos Valdivia in 2009. It was filmed in the southern zone (districts of Calacoto and La Florida) from the city of La Paz in Bolivia.
Analyzes the situation of a family of high class and how it deals with internal conflicts, as well as its relationship with its employees, who are of Indian origin. The story is about the life of a mother divorced with three children who brood on their own. They live at home with their employees Aymara roots, both humble and who know and learn their human realities. After the film, the mother manages to give time to devote to their children that they were going down a wrong path and establish better communication with them and with their employees, whom they considered part of their family who worked at home for years.
