Event Description : Akar Prakar Art Adviosry presents "NIRMITI : A constructed object" a group exhibition of sculptures.
Akar Prakar has been doing meaningful shows with tight curations for its collectors and viewers in the last few years. This show titled Nirmitti (or creation,) a constructed object is one more such effort to put together 13 sculptors spread over three generations, who have been truthful to their art and medium, as sculptors using bronze or terracotta or wood.
From modern masters such as Prodosh Dasgupta and Sankho Chaudhuri have been a towering presence in the field of sculpture making, in india in the last century, in fact both these masters have completed a 100 years, Prodosh in 2012 and Sankho will be completing a 100 next year. Both whose works will be represented in this exhibition. "From the modern masters, the show takes us through works of important sculptors such as Meera Mukherjee, Himmat Shah, Somnath Hore, Sarbari Roy Choudhury, Nagji Patel who have created a name and place for themselves in the world of art, as pillars who carved the way for newer generations of artists and sculptors."Amongst the next generation of artists/ sculptors who have been true to their art. we are showcasing works of Rajendra Tiku, P.Daroz, KS. Radhakrishnan, Bimal Kundu, Aku and Shyamal Roy."This show promises to be a treat for art lovers who would like to see the growth and changes of movements in sculpture within Northern India in the last century, with key artists being highlighted in this small but exhaustive exhibition."
