Event Description : "In The Footsteps of Le Corbusier" an exhibition of photography by Antonio Martinelli.
This exhibition is a selection of photographs taken by Antonio Martinelli in Chandigarh and Ahmedabad over a span of 40 years. Le Corbusier, the most influential master of modern architecture, was commissioned to design Chandigarh, the first planned city in India by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He has been an inspiration to contemporary Indian architects providing a module that could perhaps suit a nation in transition. We are recipients of his impressive legacy of urbanism, landscape design, architecture, sculpture and interior design.

In 1975, almost at the beginning of his photographic career, with very little equipment and limited amount of time, that Antonio shot the first images in black and white of Chandigarh. Later in 1984 he returned, and using only 35 mm Kodak chrome colour slides film and in 2014, he only shot with 35 mm digital Nikon and Canon cameras.
Photographing in the cities of Chandigarh and Ahmedabad has been a fascinating experience for Antonio. He was able to capture the essence of India, as an amalgamation of urban and rural and contemporary and ancient traditions.
