Event Description : Curtain Raiser: 96th Birth Anniversary Celebration.
Commemorating the 96th Birth Anniversary of Dr Stya Paul (4 th October 1919-7th June 2010); Founder Chairman, Apeejay Education Society, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group.
Program : In commemoration of Dr. Stya Paul, there will be a cultural night where Dr. Neha Berlia will play Sarod and Shekhar Sen will perform a monoact play named, Saheeb.
Background : In Apeejay Stya Group’s calendar, October 4, 2015 is a very special day as it marks the 96th birth anniversary of Dr.Stya Paul, Founder Chairman of Apeejay Stya Group & Apeejay Education Society. To Commemorate this birth anniversary, a special function is being organised
Dr Stya Paul, a distinguished industrialist, educationist, freedom fighter and philanthropist had set up the first Apeejay School at Jalandhar in 1967 under the aegis of the Apeejay Education Society . He went on to establish 29 not-for-profit educational institutions across the country, including the Apeejay Stya University. Today the Society has 25 campuses and more than 40,000 students.
“My father was one of the foremost industrialist to recognise the great role that industry could play in providing quality education”, said Ms Sushma Paul Berlia, Co-Promoter & President, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group; President, Apeejay Education Society; Co-Founder & Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University and Chairperson Apeejay Stya Education Research Foundation.
“Dr. Stya Paul pioneered the Apeejay Stya Group’s growth as one of India’s biggest industrial conglomerates, and the growth of the Apeejay Education Society, which is a social commitment of the Group”, added Ms Berlia.
“Dr Stya Paul had the qualities of hard work, fearlessness and love for truth. He was a positive thinker who faced all of life’s vicissitudes with a never-say-die attitude. On the occasion of his birth anniversary, let us celebrate both what he was, and what he stood for”, said Ms Berlia.
In tune with the affinity of the Apeejay Education Society (AES) with the heritage, culture and the performing arts, the Founder’s Day would be marked by a musical mono-act presentation, ‘Saahab’ by eminent artiste Padma Shri Shekhar Sen. This would be preceded by a scintillating Sarod Recital by Dr. Neha Berlia – granddaughter of Dr. Stya Paul.
Shri Kalraj Mishra, Honourable Union Minister of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest on the Founder’s Day Celebration at the Campus Auditorium at Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai, Phase-1.
