Event Description : Padmashri Shobha Deepak Singh (Director & Vice Chairperson, Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra), looks forward to your presence at the celebration of Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra’s 59th epic presentation of ‘Ramlila’
Says Shobha Deepak Singh, “As in previous years, this year’s show is also thoroughly researched. The performance has grown in production value such as charisma and authenticity of the costumes, choreography, music, lights and sets. The show is therefore endearing. In Sita's portrayal there is power to the woman, in her graceful coming in to her own, in the face of trials and tribulations. Furthermore, the earlier Ramlila productions were primarily enjoyed by an audience in the age group 60 to 75 years, but today, with the unique energy the production exudes, it is enjoyed by all age groups - old, middle-aged as well as the younger ones. There is a change in the cast of the lead characters. Also there are new dancers, playing some of the lead roles for the first time."
The ‘Ramlila’, presents age old learning with the perfect technological ingredients that a modern repertoire can offer in choreography and music. Good and evil remain two sides of the same coin, called life. The dynamics work on one hand on the intrinsic goodness of the Almighty in the play of cards dealt out by destiny, playing with emotions in varying situations. External, superficial trappings, sentiments and intricacies of human dilemmas, reflections and responses remain constant and similar in essence, existing even today in the mind and heart. The Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra’s 59th edition of the spectacular “Ramlila” presents a beautiful amalgamation between reality and idealism, magnificent costumes, masterful lighting, perfect choreography and music, orchestrated to perfection, by the custodian and nurturer of Indian cultural heritage, Padmashri Shobha Deepak Singh.
The Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra enjoys recognition as the first to present an aesthetically refined ‘Sampurna Ramayan’, without diluting the intrinsic spirit of the epic. Indeed Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra’s ‘Ramlila’ is a legacy in itself and a significant segment of an effort to familiarise the audience with the country’s cultural heritage. Emotions and situations of the time when the Ramayana actually unfolded may have had different accoutrements in terms of the external, superficial trappings, but in essence the sentiments and intricacies of human emotion remain evergreen and eternal, as they resonate in the modern day context and conflicts of mind and heart.
