Event Description : Theatre Garage Project "Connecting Voices" voice workshop with Sara Machett.
About the Workshop:
The workshop uses a whole-body approach to vocal training using Fitzmaurice Voicework®
It integrates Euro-American voice training methods with bodywork including yoga, bioenergetics and shiatsu
Breath is the core element used as the impulse as well as thread that connects body, voice, imagination and language
The ultimate aim is to enhance the presence of the performer on stage and in the moment
About the Instructor:
Sara Matchett is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Drama at the University of Cape Town as well as Associate Teacher at Fitzmaurice Voicework®. She works with voice, acting, theatre-making, applied drama/theatre, and performance analysis.
Sara is co-founder and Artistic Director of The Mothertongue Project – Women’s Arts Collective which focuses on women’s theatre and cross-community dialogue. She has worked in South Africa, Singapore, India, Kenya and Indonesia as a theatre-maker, performer, director and facilitator.
Sara is presently completing her PhD at the University of Cape Town.
