Event Description : "Extended Vision" an exhibition of drawings and paintings by Srinibas.
First glance at the painting as well as the drawings are patches of scapes and faces. Yet apart from the naturalistic description of the modern and congested city space, one is able to feel the pull of a direction that the artist is trying to depict. His paintings are all about what he see's, it doesn't seem curtail any philosophy. The rural and open landscapes are ridden with lighter colours, even the horizon seems to be farther, The colours get lighter as you move towards freedom, towards a more open space.
His love for rural landscapes and his continuous quest for understanding urban landscape and human form is seen clearly in this collection. The viewer is beckoned invitingly to explore the city riddled with alleys and village roads twisting out of sight. The narrow lanes, mosques, and hustling crowds are almost audible from the platform that the artist provides the viewer with. Lenka through the platform that he provides in his paintings, gives the viewer a place to start from. He is guiding the viewer to the starting point from where the whole painting is visible and from where one may enter and explore the canvas through multiple points.
In the cityscape, one can see the cultures clashing with tibetan flags fluttering on rooftops and minarets standing tall in the background. This clash, seems to be very accommodating and the violent edge is gracefully unseen. The paintings and drawings seem to be a new quest each time the viewer tires to enter it. The drawings seem depict a creature from nature, ever changing and evolving with multiple faces and views.
