Event Description : 6 Week Introduction to Improvised Theatre.
We all improvise all the time. Will there be an auto strike today? Will the dhobi return my dress on time? We’d like to know, but we don’t. We use our creativity and imagination to navigate life. No script, no rehearsal, no fear. This is improvisation. Simpal. Out in the real world, any spontaneous act will very likely get you in trouble. We will create a space where all mischief and mistakes will be celebrated. If you want to know what it feels like to be in this workshop, imagine if your mother were to come to you and say lovingly, “chalo beta, it’s time to make a huge scene.” Improv skills are life skills. This workshop is for everyone, not just actors. If you’ve never stepped on stage, perfect.
Language :
English, Hindi, Urdu, Hindustani (participant must be able to understand and speak English)
About the Facilitator :Saif Ali trained as an improviser and actor in San Francisco, California. He studied with stalwarts of the long-form improvisation technique including the legendary Keith Johnstone. Saif performs on the professional stage and in films. He taught improv at Stanford University and conducted workshops for the VIA social entrepreneurship program working with a variety of participants spread across cultures, languages and times in life. Saif formulated and directed his own improvised theatre format - made up stories in the style of J.R.R Tolkien. He often forgets where he parks.
