Event Description : Kathak Kendra presents "Kathak Beyond Borders" UK based Kathak exponent Urja Desai Thakore shares how the universal message of Kathak inspired and shaped her Dance journey to new frontiers across continents. 
As part of "Mangal Sabha" a platform for performing artists, students, scholars and art lovers. 

Urja Desai Thakore was born in Ahmedabad, India, and studied Kathak for over 20 years with Kathak guru and choreographer Kumudini Lakhia. From her Guru she received an extensive traditional vocabulary with which to explore the narratives of modern society. Urja subsequently received her Bachelors degree in Kathak dance from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya. Urja has been teaching extensively for 8 years in the UK, in addition to leading Kathak workshops all over the country. She received her Masters degree in South Asian Dance with Choreography as major from Roehmapton University in 2012.
Urja Desai Thakore is the Artistic Director of Pagrav Dance Company, which she established in 1997.
The presentation will include video footages of choreographed pieces as well as a short dance presentation by a team of young disciples of Urja Desai -Thakore.
