Event Description : "India through my painting" an exhibition of paintings by Rosamaría Laveda.
Art statement: “Watch and feel this culture is a thrilling experience. To shape it on a canvas, a challenge. My objective, to know that conveys. Come and we explain it.
I have heard many times that India catch you, and it caught me. My second trip to Delhi was for collaborating with the NGO Streets of India, and that gave me the opportunity to discover the non-touristic side of the country, full of images, smells and emotions. It was a thrilling experience, and that's what I have tried to convey in my work. With respect, tolerance and admiration for such a different culture from mine, I could feel the struggle for survival through a look. The joy of life expressed in vivid colors, and the spirituality through their gods and mandalas. In this pictorial project I have discovered and introduced new techniques such as stamping, collage, acrylics and sprays.” (Rosamaría Laveda)
About the artist: “My love for drawing and painting started when I ws a child, but my family preferred to take me to ballet and French classes in my spare time. I didn’t received a formal training in arts until I got married, and when I was living in Barcelona I attend to a school of art (Traç). From then onwards, I have met well known painters and received lessons from them (Gloria Muñoz, Joaquin Ureña, Lozano Martinez, Nuria Balcells, A. Roca and Antonio Granja Llobet, from whom I continuous learning as well as having a great friendship and admiration. Great master). My favorite technique is painting oil on canvas and charcoal drawing. The oil thrills me because it dries slowly and let you to merge the tones, but forces you to stop and not saturate, breathe and look the next day. My painting is figurative, intimate, predominates warm tones (sienna, ocher, lands), but for specific themes -such as boat on the sea- I prefer blue cobalt, ultramarine, turquoise. The subjects that I paint have a direct link with my life. My studio is like a large storage room, filled with antique furniture, objects, childhood memories, well, an enchanting chaos where I'm watching and painting. Reaffirm my profession of artist is more than a job, it is a philosophy of life.
Having discipline at work, going through economic problems, an uncertain future working without rest, ... it is hard but I like it. It is my passion.” (Rosamaría Laveda)
