Event Description : "Cosmology to Cartography" A Cultural journey of Indian maps from the collections of Kalakriti Archives, Hyderabad and National Museum.Cosmology to Cartography explores the representation of the ordered world in the Indian sub-continent through a unique collection of maps, which will open at National Museum next week.
The exhibition draws on the Kalakriti Archive, a solo initiative of Prashant Lahoti and boasts of India’s most comprehensive private collection of historic maps. The exhibition has been curated by Dr Vivek Nanda and Dr Alex Johnson.
Hyderabad-based Kalakriti Archive, which is bringing in all but two of the 72 maps in the exhibition, will facilitate a virtual travel back in time to the genesis of early cosmological representations of the ‘World of Mortals’ to the growth of modern map-drawing.
Curated by: Dr Vivek Nanda and Dr Alex Johnson
