Event Description : An evening of Folk and Tribal Music with 'Roots' musical group.

The root of all music is folk. And Roots is a group of like-minded, passionately music-loving people who are intend on promoting and propagating the Country’s rich tradition of folk and tribal music. They do so in a bid to drive change in thinking and to spread the message of love, unity, tolerance and brotherhood in a fast-paced and mechanical world. Three-year old Roots is a group comprising members most of whom pursue professions other than music, come from different parts of India, and range from 20 to 70 years in age. Yet they find their solace in musical and creative activities. Some of them sing, some play musical instruments, some write and prepare presentations and still others like to do a bit of anchoring and acting. 
Roots will perform folk and tribal songs of different part of India in Multi languages format on 25th July at SRCPA. It will have explanatory scripts (synopsis of the songs)  in English for each songs and also about the background of the song projected on colourfully designed backgrounds while performing for people to understand the meaning and the message of the songs.  
Roots have its own singers and musicians and they give newness to the old music by using some  of the modern instruments. The main objective is to promote folk and Tribal music in a modern format without distorting the original tune and lyrics. The larger objective of Roots is to bridge the gap between the different parts of the Country through folk-based cultural and musical events. 
There will be total of around 14 to 16 numbers of songs in different languages from various parts of India (i.e, Punjabi, Rajasthani, Bhoujpuri, Assamese, Bengali, etc)    which will be performed by the Roots musical group.
