Event Description : Delhi Karavan presents "An Evening with Djinns of Delhi" heritage walk.

“It was in the citadel of Feroz Shah Kotla that I met my first Sufi.
William Dalrymple. with those opening lines in his book, City of Djinns - A Year in Delhi, took us on a haunting journey, back and forth in time.

Delhi Karavan will take you back in time as well, right in the heart of that City of Djinns, where the elusive sufis and saints used to live. Today, devotees visit this place seeking blessings from the Djinns - they write letters, stick coins on the walls of a mosque, offer sweets and milk to the Djinns in the hope of getting their wish fulfilled.

Kahin kuch baatein unsuni, kahin kuch kisse’unkahe. Lets gather amidst the smoke of incense which envelops this magical place. Talk about things rarely discussed, hidden fears, black magic, existence of unknown, incidents, experiences, the unhappy spirits, the beliefs. What is astounding about this place on a Thursday afternoon or evenings, is that, some people who come here, have been doing so since generations. Their families have come each Thursday and their prayers have been answered. Even our musafirs in past were greeted with some astounding sights , some out of our comfort zone or simply “too much quietness “surrounding the area.

Feroz Shah Kotla, the fifth city of Delhi, is a place full of mysterious, hidden structures - a mosque, a baoli, dungeon cells, and a vast expanse of space with great vantage points - a photographer's delight including the famous Ashokan era Stone Pillar.
