Event Description : The Akshara Summer Festival For Children.

Five weeks of intensive workshops in theatre, music, Sanskrit chanting, dance, art, gymnastics, yoga, football, with brilliant teachers in the beautiful air-conditioned Akshara environment. Weather permitting, the large green lawns and amphitheatre will also make living classrooms and play areas. Gopal Sharman, Jalabala Vaidya and Anasuya Vaidya lead the teaching team for theatre, acting & related subjects like recitation and creative writing. Parul Mishra (Kathak), Nitish Kochar (Modern Dance), Ghulam Mohammed (Music), Sandhya Kargate (Yoga), Mangae Ram Sharma (Art), Benny Thomas (Football)  and Kishan Singh (Gymnastics).
There will be three special workshops: Heritage Workshop on Performing Arts with Sapnon Ekhon, Creative Movement by Theatre Garage Project and Stand Up Comedy with Maheep Singh. We will make a judgment if we feel any of the juniors would fit comfortably into one of the special workshops. Otherwise the workshops will be mainly for middlers and seniors.

The students are divided into three groups; juniors from 4-6 years; middlers from 7-12 years; seniors from 13 upwards. Generally juniors have shorter classes of 20 minutes and they have a special teacher dedicated to them who accompanies them to other classes they may take part in like gymnastics, music and chanting. They have a special room where teachers will come to them.

We provide special home-made snacks and drinks for their half hour break. We prefer parents not to send junk foods like Lays potato chips and Coke. If the weather is not too hot children are allowed to play in the large lawn.

During the last week different groups will present their plays, dance, music and chanting etc. for which parents are cordially invited. Each child will receive a Diksha certificate.
