Event Description : "Being a Child" A solo exhibition of sculptures by French artist Christine Margotin.

After a successful first solo show in 2013, Christine Margotin, a French contemporary sculptor based in New Delhi, brings us back to childhood, a crucial period of life that «one should never completely leave» as she likes to state. What can be learned from observing children? What can we -adults- gain in reconnecting somewhat with our childhood? The artist explores the dialectics between childhood and adulthood through 3 series of artworks sculptures of life-size children playing to simple games, sculptures of children showing joyful or moving attitudes, 3D-canvases displaying messages about childhood.

Christine’s work is figurative and finds its inspiration in everyday life. She enjoys capturing street scenes, human attitudes and experiences that are both striking and moving. Her ultimate desire is to share these moments without the need for articulation. In her realistic and accurate style, Margotin
works with her favorite themes by focusing on human moods – on Indian roads, with children, at the seaside, during spiritual moments, through expressions of love. She works in 3D, mostly by making bronze sculptures of people engaged in actions that inspired joy or compassion to her.
