Foregrounded by a history of community art initiatives, the street art movement began in India some five months ago and has exploded into exciting proportions in the last few years, deepening the practice of some artists while bringing others to the scene. With the emergence of organizations and events in Delhi, Pune, Kochi and elsewhere, this panel looks back to what the original and evolving intent of community and street art have been and what new directions the movements has grown in. It brings together the organizers, artists and supporters to present recent projects and discuss the current state and direction of street art in India.
