Event Description : National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi invites you to "The San Diego Museum of Art- An Introduction" a lecture by Roxana Velasquez, Director, San Diego Museum of Art.

Director Roxana Velasquez would be presenting the long standing history of The San Diego Museum of Art (SDMA) as a cornerstone of San Diego’s art community and cultural heritage. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations ( ICCR) has invited her under the Academic Visitors Programme. During her time at the Museum, Velásquez has helped organize many high profile exhibitions, such as: From El Greco to Dali: Great Spanish Masters from the Perez Simon Collection; the traveling exhibition Into India: South Asian Paintings from The San Diego Museum of Art; and The Human Beast: German Expressionism at The San Diego Museum of Art—named the biggest art surprise of 2012 by U-T San Diego. Velásquez has focused on raising the international profile of the Museum’s Permanent Collection.With a general contemplation on why museums continue to matter, Roxana will be highlighting San Diego Musuem of Art Collections that contribute to the Museum’s strength and relevance with a special focus on the  Edwin Binney 3rd Collection.
