Event Description : "Sidhpur: Time Present Time Past" an exhibition of photographs by Sebastian Cortés.
These photographs examine a rare facet of Indian diversity and record the fascinatingly surreal architecture of the Bohras. The community's unique vernacular architecture, developing over time and through a host of encounters in their nomadic lives as traders, show a range of influences - and are detailed and dense in visually stunning ways. Moving beyond simply documenting them though, Cortės' images record absences and residual glamour -- producing in fact, a theatre of time.
Further, the private preview will be preceded by a special panel discussion between the artist, Sebastian Cortės, Rosalyn D'Mello and Aman Nath.

Rosalyn D'Mello is a Delhi based art feature-writer, who has authored the catalogue essay that accompanies this show; and Aman Nath is an expert on heritage preservation and architectural restoration as the cofounder and cochairman of the Neemrana chain of hotels.
