Event Description : Piano recital by Niccolò Cantagallo.


Hear the maestro playing to the tunes of Antonio Piovano, Gioachino Rossini and Robert Schumann.

Niccolò Cantagallo was born in 1993 in Pescara in a family of musicians. In manifesting precocious musical talent he began his musical studies at the age of 5 years under the guidance of his grandfather maestro Antonio Piovano, pianist and composer. In 2002 he was admitted at 'ISSM Braga of Teramo’, in the class of maestro Piero Di Egidio, from where he graduated at the age of 16 years with the highest grade. At the age of 14, he debuted with a tour in the United States, as a soloist and in a duo with his uncle Luigi Piovano, cellist, conductor and first cellist of the orchestra of St. Cecilia and Tokyo. He holds first prizes in various national and international competitions; in 2009 he was awarded the best student of the Italian conservatories. Called by the UN, he played as a guest during the Mozart weeks in a concert to commemorate the 60th year of the military base in Brindisi. He also played in the Liszt marathons of 2011 and in some major cities such as Boston, New Port, Pittsburgh, Lucerne, Paris, Salzburg and in the House of Mendelssohn in llpsia as duo with the first violin orchestra of Tokyo and Bangkok, Tasana Nagavajara. He finished his high school graduation at the liceo classico "G.D. Annunzio" of Pescara and graduated at the lSSM G.Braga of Teramo in "practice executive and repertoire piano” with a thesis on Alexander Scriabin. In 2010, he won a competition that allowed him to enter the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, under the guidance of maestro Sergio Perticaroli, where he graduated in 2013 with the highest grade. Currently he is a student of maestro Stefano Fiuzzi at the academy of Imola. In June 2012 he released his first CD, titled "Romantic Pages”, for the label "Wide Classic', and in june 2013 he published a book including a CD (recorded by him), containing the biography and the complete piano works of his grandfather, Antonio Piovano. He writes articles for music magazines and articles dedicated to the history of music, opera, popular music and musical language.
