Event Description : "Early Postcolonial Art Writing in India" a talk by Dr. Devika Singh.


Dr. Devika Singh is the Smuts Research Fellow at the Centre of South Asian Studies of the University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on Indian modern and contemporary art and its international contexts and on the global history of modernism. She holds a PhD in the History of Art from the University of Cambridge and has held fellowships at the Kluge Centre of the Library of Congress, Washington DC, the Freie Universitaet, Berlin, and the French Academy at Rome (Villa Medici). In the talk, she will discuss the role of German and Austrian emigres in the Indian art world.
