Event Description : DelhiByFoot presents "Shahjahanabad At Dawn : The Majestic and Mysterious in Unseen Delhi 6" Heritage Walk.
The wonderful thing about getting lost in the Mughal City of Emperor Shahjahan at dawn is that you can watch the city as it slowly stirs up…shakes off the last remnants of sleep…and then suddenly comes alive!
If you wish to see a Delhi6 which you have rarely ever seen, not even in pictures of the many coffee-table books on Delhi6…if you wish to walk through the bewildering maze of alleys…in search of the early morning fragrances that will tickle all your 5 senses…a mysterious city which will draw you in and won’t let you go….then join in Delhi’s most popular ‘Time Machine’, the DBF Time Machine and get transported to the times of the grandeur and subsequent ruin of the Mughal empire…
We will not walk the most-photographed gallis & kuchas of Chandni Chowk & Chawri Bazar…neither the oft-visited foodie paradise of Matia Mahal & Ballimaran…nor the Ju’ma Masjid or the Gurudwara Sis Ganj…
What instead you see is the once majestic Mughal Imperial capital..today where crumbling havelis hide behind chaotic markets…where stories peep out from hastily pulled colored curtains of haveli windows…where Sufi mysticism and magic of culture meets the madness of this loveliest city of India!
WALK COVERAGE: Be ready to savour the serenity of a quaint little Sufi Dargah tucked away in a hidden corner of the walled city…sip tea from kulhads…watch a temple get ready for its day’s activities…see families of khansamas rustle up gastronomic delights…hear stories of a Sultan at her graveyard...know more about what we feel is the heart of our big megapolis…Delhi6!
Our walk will obviously make you hungry hence generous doses of ‘Shajahanabadi’ style breakfast, garam chai and other morning delicacies await you…
The presentation will be done in a mix of Zabaan-e-Dilli, in Urdu / Hindi and also English….
