Event Description : An exhibition of artworks by two women artists Ingrid Pitzer and Vanita Gupta.

Vanita Gupta’s works are characterized by the use of the unexpected, the quality of intuition, and an active and passionate engagement with the material. We showcase her acrylic on canvas work, and sculptures.  The exhibition also includes three videos that depict the seriously witty and edgily eccentric aspects behind the creation of these works and concerns related to space and void.  Vanita lives and works in Mumbai and recently she has been awarded a grant by the Asian Cultural Council, New York, supported by the Rockefeller Foundation. This grant has been previously received by eminent Indian artists such as Akbar Padmasee  and V. S. Gaitonde.

There is a haunting silence in Ingrid Pitzer’s work; a characteristic austerity. Deviating from becoming a conventional sculptor, working in non perishable mediums like stone, bronze, fiber, and the like, Ingrid has carved out a space for herself in contemporary art with her original, visually delightful, unfailingly stimulating and impeccably crafted paperart works. Ingrid is a German artist who has made India her home.  Her work stand in the collections of the Deutscher Bundestag, the art collection for the Foreign Office in Bonn and in the NBK Art Collection in Berlin.
