Event Description : Social #Talks with Paravati Sharma, Janice Pariat and Anandana Kapur.

This Wednesday, Social interacts with filmmaker, Anandana Kapur and authors Janice Pariat (Boats on Land: A Collection of Short Stories) and Parvati Sharma (Close to Home, The Dead Camel and Other Stories of Love) with a special focus on current civil rights issues.

The event is in partnership with Penguin Random House and the talk will be taking place at antiSOCIAL, Hauz Khas Village, a wide-open canvas where members can really indulge in their passions and inspirations in the form of music, cinema, and art.    

About Janice Pariat :
Janice is the author of Boats on Land: A Collection of Short Stories (Random House India, 
2012). She was awarded the Yuva Puraskar (Young Writer Award) from the Sahitya Akademi (Indian National Academy of Letters) and the Crossword Book Award for fiction.

She studied English Literature at St Stephen’s College, Delhi, and History of Art at the School of Oriental and African Studies, London. Her work – including art reviews, cultural features, book reviews, fiction and poetry – has featured in a wide number of national magazines & newspapers. She was editor of Pyrta, an online literary journal of poetry, prose, photo essays and sketches.

Janice is currently the Charles Wallace Writer in Residence at the University of Kent, Canterbury. She lives between the UK and India.

About Anandana Kapur :
Award winning filmmaker, Anandana Kapur has many hats in media and learning. Her repertoire ranges from documentaries, advocacy films to advertisements and TV.

Be it her writing or cinema , she has a keen eye, and passion for portraying the interesting, and entertaining in what we disregard as our daily lives.  When she is not working on ideas 
for her label Cinemad Productions, books, travelling, and intelligent debate keep her 
inspired.

About Parvati Sharma :
Parvati Sharma is the author of The Dead Camel and Other Stories of Love (2010) and more recently a novel, Close to Home (2014). She grew up in many places but has lived the last 20-odd years in Delhi, where she studied English literature and Indian history. She works as a travel writer, editor and occasional freelancer.
