Event Description : "Eyes On The Radio" CD launch of the new album by Avi & The Uprising.
About Avi & The Uprising :
Avi & The Uprising is a musical project founded by singer songwriter Avi who teaches voice at the Delhi School Of Music and has worked for the likes of the B.B.C. as a writer. An operatic bass baritone voice, super catchy songs, distinct lyrical imagery, an ever revolving line up of instrumental virtuosos and innovative music videos have helped Avi & The Uprising carve out a niche for themselves on the indie circuit.
The project has two different avatars - Avi & The Uprising (Solo Set) - a solo singer songwriter setup with Avi on vocals and guitar / piano and Avi & The Uprising - an organic jam band with 5 to 9 members from backgrounds as varied as progressive rock, blues, Rajasthani folk, jazz and Indian classical joining Avi on stage.
Avi & The Uprising has played festivals like Nh 7 Weekender, Ziro Festival Of Music and Ragasthan, featured on Hit 95 FM, balcony tv all time Top 60, Mtv Indies and Vh1 and played shows across India as well as in Australia, Hong Kong and Indonesia.
About the album “Eye On the radio” :
‘The search for an identity as an urban Indian in the 21st century is central to this album. There is a conflict between the collective unconscious, populated by past symbols of the eternal, deeply embedded in our history and the collective conscious as represented by immediate symbols of the apparent – the chaos and color of modern Indian streets'.
Avi & The Uprising launched their eagerly awaited debut studio album 'Eyes On The Radio' on their website aviandtheuprising.com this November with gigs at Blue Frog, Mumbai and Pune and Pepsi Mtv Indies as the media sponsors of the launch. The album has been lauded as truly groundbreaking on the indie scene with a new direction in words, imagery and sound born out of the melting pot of contemporary India. Their tour and association with MTV Indies continues with the release of the physical CD with a gig at Hauz Khas Social in New Delhi.

Joshua Grant - Drums , Karthikeya Vashist-Flute and morchang, Akshat Pradhan Bass, Rigden Yolmo - Guitar, Avi - Voice and his guitar on stage for the set followed by an impromptu jam with friends from the scene.
